What types of pelvic symptoms may be addressed by HPC?

Urinary leakage (incontinence), IBS, other bladder & bowel issues
Interstitial cystitis, painful bladder syndrome
Painful intercourse, vaginismus, dyspareunia, difficulty with orgasm
Pelvic heaviness/fullness, cystocele, rectocele, pelvic organ prolapse
Endometriosis, adenomyosis, painful menstrual periods
General pelvic pain, vulvodynia, nerve pain
What can I expect in a HPC session?
We'll review pelvic anatomy and I conduct a brief pelvic evaluation to assess baseline strength, tension patterns and organ positions. The hands-on treatment portion of a session is generally around 40 minutes in both initial & tune-up sessions. This includes intervaginal massage with myofascial & trigger point release in combination with guided breathwork and visualization tools to assist physical and energetic balance.
What effects will I notice after a HPC session?
Women describe immediate effects including feeling more relaxed and centered, a greater sense of support, and increased strength in their pelvic muscles. When blood and energy flow is restored to the pelvic bowl the benefits and improvement in undesired symptoms continues to improve over time.
Is HPC painful?
My internal release work is gentle and respectful, following the lead of your body. It should never hurt and the response of a woman’s body guides the depth and direction of the hands-on work.
Can I receive HPC during my moon time/on my period?
Yes! As a natural time of release, it is a wonderful time to "unpack" the pelvic bowl.
What if I don’t have any symptoms?
The goal of HPC is to empower a woman to inhabit her pelvic space and occupy her feminine ground physically, energetically, emotionally and spiritually. The pelvis serves a woman in many ways and yet receives little direct care. The benefits of reconnecting with this sacred space include increased vitality, creativity and a deep sense of well-being.
Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®
The Arvigo techniques were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, DN. based on her apprenticeship with the Maya healer Don Elijio Panti and her own education, training, and research as a naprapathic physician. A session consists of specific abdominal, low back, and sacral massage techniques that bring the body to its natural balance by correcting the position of organs that have shifted and restoring the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi energy to the pelvis and abdomen.
*Sessions need to be modified for 5 days before and during menses, with an IUD, during the first trimester of pregnancy, in the first month postpartum, and for 6-12 weeks post abdominal surgery.
Bodywork for Birth Preparation
Personalized healing sessions to release tension patterns, stories, fears, and trauma before you birth. The goal is to boost your confidence in your body, demystify the birth journey, and leave you feeling deeply connected to your baby. A bodywork for birth session includes guided visualizations, focused breath work, belly/baby massage to release overall tension and assess the baby's position, and gentle internal release work to unwind tension patterns in your pelvic bowl and "pave the way" for your baby.
*You must be in your 3rd trimester at the time of your appointment.
A Holistic Pelvic Care session focused on healing after birth. In a Postpartum Rehab Session I asses for prolapse (uterine, cystocele & rectocele), check on tear/episiotomy/cesarean healing & begin scar tissue softening, restore optimal muscle recruitment, address incontinence issues, discuss impact on sexual health, check for diastasis recti and begin a basic core strengthening regimen, and SO much more. This early check-in could eliminate YEARS of struggle, insecurity, pain, and overwhelm. 5-6 weeks postpartum seems to be the sweet-spot, restoring harmony before imbalances are strengthened while also allowing adequate time for your tissue to heal after birth, but it's never too late!
Every session is a ceremony. I trust my hands, seasoned with nearly 20 years of practice, to listen and lead the way as I slowly unwind your muscles, joints and connective tissues and coax you into a blissful state of healing. My work covers the spectrum, from deep structural bodywork to very subtle (yet potent) craniosacral and visceral therapies, with many other manual and energetic techniques woven in to maximize your experience and the lasting effect. Massage also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, flooding your body (and if you're pregnant your baby) with Oxytocin, Serotonin, and other healing hormones.
Holistic Pelvic Care, Arvigo Therapy, Bodywork for Birth Prep/Prenatal Massage, and Postpartum Rehab are my priority. If you urgently need an appointment, please call Studio M at (707) 938-5593 to be added to my cancellation list.
